When visiting Wrecked Ship without Speed Booster, you'll want to use the upper door to check the Reserve Tank location, using either Wave Beam or a Power Bomb to break the item's shell. This way you know whether you will need to return for that item later after you obtain Speed Booster (or to help determine if Speed Booster is even required for that seed).
If you are not collecting the items below, the fastest way to get through the room is by charging a shinespark in [[Bowling Alley Path]]/[[Homing Geemer Room]]. For newer KPDR runners or for categories that do not have Speed Booster when visiting Wrecked Ship, judicious use of iframes is important. If executed precisely, it is possible to take damage only twice by simply holding dash + right, and jumping at the last possible moment of invincibility. Damage boosts can give more leniency to the strat, but low damage boosts are important. Hold left and jump through the moment of damage, or else you will gain height from the dboost, reducing the amount of time you will spend on the ground gaining speed while invincible. Also note that the "spikes" in the foreground are not actually the source of damage - Samus is damaged when she touches the floor of the room.
