As a lot of people may already know, there is a lot of confusion when it comes to certain terms in the puzzle-making world of Super Metroid. Here is a list of a lot of those terms and their meanings. Note that this only applies to puzzle #50 and all that come after.

Terms

Term Meaning Notes
Locked You may not access any of the transition blocks of the door to go through it. This term is mainly used for doors, but could also be used for specific areas, in which case, it means players may not enter that area/room. When used for doors, it only refers to one side, for example, if one said that the door from climb to parlor is locked, they may still enter climb from parlor.
Closed (off)/Grayed A shell of a door may not be opened. When using this term, one needs to specify to which shell they are referring. They also must know that people may still X-climb into the transition blocks. As long as the specified shells are never opened, the rule has been kept.
Acquire Samus has gained possession of the item.
Collect Acquire an item by picking it up at one of its locations on Zebes.
Mini-boss The five mini-bosses include Bomb Torizo, Spore Spawn, Crocomire, Botwoon, and Golden Torizo
Boss The four bosses on the golden four statue and Mother Brain.
Main Boss The four bosses on the golden four statue.
Kill An enemy is killed by traditional means (such as being encountered and killed by Samus's arsenal).
Dead An enemy is dead by any means.
