Hi-Jump Boots allows Samus to jump roughly twice as high, and is among the most useful upgrades, as indicated by it being collected in all non-low% categories.

However, because Hi-Jump Boots give you extra vertical speed from a jump, there are a few specific jumps that are easier if you turn them off to avoid hitting the ceiling, such as walljumping in Landing Site to reach Gauntlet Entrance without Space Jump or Speed Booster.
