The goal is to kill Samus as fast as possible. The fastest known method is to take damage from Ridley until your energy is at 30, which is the lowest it can be without triggering Ridley's exit. This allows you to take two hits from Ridley's tail before flying off-screen.

Four hits from Ridley's tail will put your energy at 39. Three hits from Ridley's fireball attack will bring it down to 30. It is possible to be struct by multiple fireballs at once. If Ridley targets a wall, the fire will spread vertically, allowing you to easily touch 2-4 fire hitboxes at once. If a triple hit is achieved on the first possible fireball volley, you will have just enough time to take damage from Ridley's tail twice while Ridley is occupied with the second fireball volley.
