Beginner

If you shoot to freeze each Metroid and use a Super to kill it, you can grab the drops from all 4 Metroids, while only taking about 40 damage from the acid.

Intermediate

As you fall off the first ledge, you can fire a shot when you're near the ground, and it should freeze the first Metroid in place, and you can shoot a Super as you approach. This should allow you to pick up some but not all of its drops.

After this, one option is to group the remaining three Metroids together with Space Jumps, and a mockball on the floor after the acid. Watch out that you don't overshoot any of the Metroids though, because if they go off the right edge of the screen, it can be difficult to get them back on screen so you can take them out.

Optimal

This grouping strat uses an airball to lay the bomb earlier, then you can run through the bomb as it explodes.

The third and fourth Metroids are much more difficult to shoot on the move than the first two, so compared to the optimal strat you could sacrifice only a little time to stop to shoot them, and skip their drops.

You can also jump to fire a horizontal shot at the fourth Metroid to freeze it, and avoid needing to stop to shoot the Super.

One faster option:

This method collects three rounds of drops, but is very difficult:
