Quick charging makes it possible to activate Speed Booster faster, resulting in shorter distance needed to charge a shinespark or pass through certain blocks.

Normally, Speed Booster is activated by simply holding dash and a direction together until it activates and blue suit is obtained; however, if you start by holding the direction and then press and hold the dash button about half a second later, Speed Booster will kick in slightly earlier.

The more advanced technique, known as short charging, uses an even shorter distance, and is required for some of the trickier room strategies, including the optimal Draygon strategy that a few categories utilize.
