Hero shot

A hero shot is any shot that will not hit its target unless the screen is scrolled accordingly. It is a reference to tool assisted speedrunner Hero of the Day, who was the first to feature this technique in a tool assisted speedrun.

Some examples:

• Killing the last Space Pirate during the Climb
• Breaking the block at the top of Red Tower from below
• Opening the upper left door in Fish Tank from below
• Firing at Ridley from below when he is at the apex of a swoop
