Varia Suit reduces incoming damage by 50%, and allows Samus to traverse heated areas without being drained of energy. Also, the suit is a vibrant orange color.
A unique feature of the Varia Suit is a reduction in the energy drain rate by the Super Metroid and the damage taken from the rainbow beam attack of Mother Brain's second phase. In Randomizers it is typical to restrict protection from heat damage to the Varia Suit (i.e. to remove this property from the Gravity Suit).
This item is acquired in basically every category. Reverse Boss Order (and similar reverse order categories) is the only exception.
