GT-Code-Max% (inbounds, in PAL and NTSC, without Spazer+Plasma beam combinations) is 135% which is the maximum if one allows the use of GT-Code, and can be achieved by collecting not more than (Ball, 1*M, Bombs, 1*SM, 1*PB) together with any additional major items that aren't expansions (such as Missile packs, Super Missile packs, Power bomb packs, E-Tanks, and R-Tanks) outside of Screw Attack, since those only count once depending on if they were collected at any point at all or not (while expansions add to the total every time, but GT-Code sets the total for expansion type items to a pre-set amount such that previously collected expansions would lose their effect and couldn't be collected anymore after GT-Code was done). After GT-Code was done, it suffices to collect Screw Attack and all remaining expansion type items to arrive at the maximum of 135%. Demonstration videos follow:
