The glass tube can be destroyed with a Power Bomb. The glass will not shatter until Samus moves, which can be used to time a jump. Without Gravity Suit, you can set up a Gravity Jump-like effect with this event.
If you end up on top of the tube before it's destroyed, you can enter the tube by rolling to the right under the slope blocks, unmorphing, then fully standing up.
