Hi-Jump Boots allows Samus to jump roughly twice as high, and is among the most useful upgrades, as indicated by it being collected in all non-low% categories.

However, because Hi-Jump Boots give you extra vertical speed from a jump, there are a few specific jumps that are easier if you turn them off to avoid hitting the ceiling, such as getting across Wrecked Ship Energy Tank Room without Grappling Beam.
