Spring Ball allows Samus to jump while being morphed.
Because of its location, this item is generally not collected except for in 100% runs.
Randomizer
There are two Spring Ball tricks that are mostly relevant in Randomizer, due to how early it's possible to pick up Spring Ball there.
If you turn on Spring Ball in the menu while you're rising in Morph Ball, you can jump as soon as you unpause, allowing you to reach places that would otherwise be inaccessible.

You can also use Spring Ball to cross the Moat, with no other items. While the CWJ would also be available here, using the Spring Ball is much easier.
